Majority of Junk Traffic Consists of DDoS Targetted at IRC Servers Over the past 1,5 year the company analyzed data of 70 ISP's. The findings show that on average 4% of all traffic is junk, such as spam and DDoS attacks topping 1,5TB of data, per second. You think you have something to add to this article? Perhaps it's me, but I don't quite get it, are they saying 4-5% of *internet* traffic is junk? or 4-5% of IRC traffic? On 8 April 2008 15:02, Asmo!jvtvQ46KlU (?) added the next comment:

Well this seems kinda common sense i actually thought it would be higher ;p I guess people re-search has not seen a network war >.> And i know 90% of all IRCers have. On 9 April 2008 8:47, Asmo!jvtvQ46KlU (?) added the next comment:

On occasions it was 5% wich is quite substantial I think... But I agree, with one year survey over 'just' 70 ISPs its a bit of a hit 'n miss of getting the heavy DDoS attacks counted into the total. On 9 April 2008 9:33, Twitch added the next comment:
